80s dance party
Esther wanted parents in Britannia Village to get a chance to enjoy themselves with their families.
Esther saw that parents on her estate were so busy and hardworking that they didn’t get time to spend with their families and enjoy themselves. So she decided to put on a dance party for mums, dads and kids aged 3 to 15 at the local community centre to give something back.
The event included silly obstacle courses and activities for the kids, including an appearance by Mickey Mouse, cupcakes and healthy smoothies. Young people from the youth club had the chance to get involved as volunteers on the day. A personal trainer and a dance choreographer led workshop sessions.
Young people had the chance to volunteer in their local area and build their skills in working with children and putting on events. Esther developed her confidence in organisation, budgeting and managing events with kids.
