Baby Care and Share
The Coin Street Girls' club took home virtual babies for the weekend to experience the life of a Young Mum.
The Coin Street Girls’ Group wanted to share their experience what being a young mum is like. The young people hired virtual babies which they took home with them for the weekend. The Girls’ then organised an evening event where they invited young mums and young people to share experiences.
The young people felt there was a lot of prejudice towards young mums and an event like this would educate people and hopefully reduce the negative stigma. With a health professional present participants were able to express any concerns they had and ask questions. 10 young people benefitted from the event and as a result felt they had a clearer understanding of work within the Healthcare sector.
The Coin Street Girls would like to run more Baby care events in the future inviting as many young mums as possible, believing that all young mums could benefit from the work they do.
