Blue Moon Fair
Young Leaders Nadia and Katya created a platform for start-ups to sell and promote their business.
About
Nadia and Katya wanted to run this event as they know there is a real shortage of affordable pitches for new businesses that are starting out and it makes it really hard for young people to get going and build a customer base. They created a fair as part of Coin Street’s wider community day. It will provided the opportunity for sellers to have a pitch to sell their products to the local community. They invited new and young businesses that have a focus on ethical and sustainable products and gave them a platform and access to a local market to develop their businesses.
Impact
15 young people with start-up businesses and around 50 people attending the day. They’d created a space for sellers to mix with members of their community and promote and sell their handmade products. There were also workshops on the day to help start-up businesses create business plans and get advice on how to make the most of their skills. Sellers left the event with raised and renewed aspirations, helping them to focus on what they needed to do to progress.
Future Developments
Nadia is already talking with the coin street community about hosting another Blue Moon fair next year, with more sellers, more food stalls and hosted at the Barge house. She is also looking to involve other member of the community in the project to collaborate with their own event ideas.
