ICA Zine Making Workshop
The Young Leaders of ICA helped young people to create powerful zine pieces.
Cristina Vasilescu and the other Young Leaders of ICA wanted to run a zine-making workshop for young people who identify as LGBTQ. This was to enable these young people to share their experiences, knowledge and creativity whilst developing skills in self-publishing. The zine workshop was a valuable learning tool designed to increase LGBTQ awareness and inclusivity.
Over 15 young people turned up for an open discussion on gender and sexuality in the current climate. Each of the young leaders then assisted the young people in creating their very own set pieces using various materials and cut outs from other magazine. They were each given a copy to keep while another copy of their work was kept for publication in the monthly ICA newsletter.
They would like to do more events like this in the future, finding more creative ways to bring the LGBTQ community together.
