Motivated Minds - Personal Challenge
Outdoor activity day to engage and encourage young people with barriers to their mental health
Young Leaders at Motivated Minds organised a Personal Challenge day at Stubbers Adventure Centre. 19 people signed up, all who have barriers to their mental health including learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD and anxiety.
The activities undertaken included: Speedboat, Kayaking, Laser Tag, Archery, High Wall and a picnic with football. The day was a massive success. Our young leaders advertised well, signed people up and met and greeted on the day. They also divided up the group into smaller groups and led them around the activities.
One of the highlights was L, a 16 year old boy with complex multiple needs going Kayaking with his mum’s partner (who was terrified of water). They both loved the experience. Another highlight was a mum with debilitating anxiety (which her son learns from) undertook the high ropes!
