Oaklands school football exchange
Communication skills, a welcome event and training - all part of the football exchange
Young people from Oaklands school in Tower Hamlets wanted to organise a football exchange with a school in another part of London to build their confidence in meeting new people, going to new areas in London and running their own event.
They took part in training sessions around organisation and communication skills, as well as working in team to organise the exchange, welcome event and football training. It built relationships in the team as well as with young people in a different area.
The young people who took part now feel that they are more open-minded and confident:
“It has helped me with my leadership skills.”
“I enjoyed meeting new people… it helped me come out of my shell and made me more confident.”
