Self-portraiture and self-reflection
Art workshops combining self-portrait skills with self-reflection.
Alish wanted to offer art workshops that combined self-portrait skills with self-reflection.The aim was to provide a chance to draw and develop skills while also expressing how you view yourself, rather than an image in the mirror.
He wanted to reach the wider community so ran his workshops with older people in Peabody sheltered accommodation and in supported accommodation for residents with complex mental health needs. Some participants hadn’t drawn in years, while others developed interesting abstract images around the idea of self.
By running his workshops with different parts of the Peabody community, Alish helped us to look at ways to support Young Leaders to reach more Peabody residents and try new ways to work in the community. Support workers in our accommodation for residents with mental health needs were very pleased with the workshops and are now working with younger residents to become Young Leaders themselves.
