SoapBox Homeless Project
A project aims to help homeless secure basic daily hygiene necessities
SoapBox Homeless Project aimed to distribute 15 packs to the homeless people in Islington. Young leaders participated in this project because they believe that everyone whether or not on the streets deserves to access to basic necessities such as toiletry, sanitary products and socks etc.
Young leaders built on their communication skills and teamwork skills. They felt as if this was beneficial because everyone’s voice should be heard and listened to. As a collective and individuals, young leaders felt as if they have improved these qualities as a whole.
When we asked young people about what was successful in their project, they said ‘Teamwork, we worked effectively and efficiently during the entirety of the project. We could have managed our time differently. Although we all managed to get work don, we could have devoted more time to creating the packs’.
We also asked what difference has this experience had on young leaders, they said: ‘We have learned to listen to other people’s ideas in group projects. we have learned multiple leadership qualities which could and will be useful in situations in the future’.
