TWIST Theatre Company
A group of young people started a theatre company and performed in both London and Endinburgh
A group of young graduates from at Hackney Empire’s artist development programme came together to start their own theatre company called TWIST. The first project of their company was to produce a modern re-imagining of the popular Shakespeare play ‘Macbeth’. They then would perform this not only at the Hackney Empire theatre but also take the show all the way to the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh.
The TWIST company made it to Edinburgh and performed 18 shows during their time there, receiving 4 and 5 star reviews for their performance. They also performed 5 shows at the Hackney Empire theatre after which they held a Q&A session, sharing their knowledge and experience with over 200 younger and older people. The group are now working towards reimagining and perform yet another Shakespeare play.
The TWIST theatre company continues to perform Macbeth at various London locations but is also look to bring to the stage a modern adaption of yet another of Shakespeare’s classics – The Tempest.
