Pembury Fun Day
Great day of activities in the heart of Hackney
About the Project
Tosin was interested in working with young people to bring out their creative sides. To achieve this, she arranged for the Young Urban Arts Bus to come along to the Pembury Fun Day. Hearing that the bus was fun and interactive for young people she thought it a good idea to bring them together and help young people get creative, face their fears and barriers and show them that they have options in life.
The bus was available to young people 8 years of age and up; for 3 hours during the day-long event. Activities on the bus included DJing, remixing music tracks and making T-shirt designs.
Young people not only learned new skills but also started new friendships. Through the music bus, 46 people we able to have the confidence and self-esteem to talk to others and work with each other, gain both music making and designing skills as well as also from doing these activities, had their aspirations raised to be more creative.
Through this project, Tosin has developed life long project management and communication skills that they will be able to put on their CV and use for future developments.
